Led by the Spirit - Part 6

LED BY THE SPIRIT                                     Page 5
V. 6 (cont’d.)

** But is it really “our” righteousness?

No - God has given us the perfect righteousness of Christ in exchange for our sin!
cf. 2Corinthians 5:21

V.23 ** So, now that we have learned that the Spirit led Christian can do whatever he or she wants; what should they do?

The answer to that question introduces the second important principle in living each day being “Led by the Spirit”.

2) KEEP MOVING! The Spirit led Christian has been gifted by God to serve Him and the other members of the body of Christ. cf. 1Peter 4:10

** Since we do not know what each new day will hold, how can we have confidence that we are walking in the path which the Lord has set before us?

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord...”

** There are many examples of how God directs the steps of His children in Scripture. Let’s just look at two, one from the Old Testament and then one from the New Testament.

Old Testament - Abraham’s servant was sent to find a wife for Isaac (Rebekah),
Genesis 24:27
And he said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His lovingkindness and His truth toward my master; as for me, the Lord has guided me in the way to the house of my master's brothers."

New Testament - Peter, Acts 9:32-35
Now it came about that as Peter was traveling through all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda. And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years, for he was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; arise, and make your bed." And immediately he arose. And all who lived at Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

** When Christians follow their God-given desires and continue to actively serve the Lord, how does our God feel about them?

“He delights in his way” - Our God actually gets pleasure from seeing us walk in obedience to Him while we are being “Led by the Spirit”. cf. Ephesians 5:10
