Titus - Chapter Two

THINKING BIBLICALLY - Part 3           Page 5

V.10 ** If we follow those instructions, what will we be our attire?

"...they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior"

V.11 ** Why should we do all of this? What has happened that would prompt our hearts to want to obey the Lord?

"For the grace of God has appeared..." This is the incarnation of God Almighty in the person of Jesus Christ! cf. Titus 3:4-6, John 1:1, 14

V.12 ** When Jesus came preaching salvation to all men, what did He instruct us to do?

"...to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age..." cf. Matthew 4:17, Mark 1:14-15

V.13 ** What are we anticipating as we maintain this godly behavior?

"...looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus" (blessed hope cf. Titus 1:2)

V.14 ** Why should we be waiting for Him? What did He ever do for us?

"...who gave Himself for us..."

** What did that accomplish?

"...that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people for His own possession..."

** Having been redeemed unto godly behavior, for what should we always be zealous?

"...zealous [eager] for good deeds..." We should strongly desire to live a godly life which adorns the doctrine of God and proclaims His work of salvation in us!

V.15 ** How was Titus to pass all of this instruction on to the Believers in Crete?

"...with all authority..." [epitage] lit. command

speak - The word of God to everyone in general
exhort - Urge and encourage those He knows
reprove - Correct those who are in error
