STIMULATE

** Last week we took a close look together at both the MANNER and REASON for a Christian to "be subject" to their spouse.

What was the MANNER and REASON for a Christian wife to be in subjection to her "own husband"?

MANNER - "as to the Lord". cf. Ephesians 6:5-6
REASON - God has ordained a man to be the head of his wife.

What was the MANNER and REASON for a Christian husband to be "subject" to his wife?

MANNER - "just as Christ also loved His church".
REASON - to bring glory to God through his beloved wife.

Hopefully we are striving to live out these God given roles within our marriage for the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord.

MOTIVATE

** In the human and animal realms, we know that self-preservation can be used as a strong motivator. Is it possible for God to use that same motivation to preserve a marriage for His name sake? Today we will conclude this portion of Paul's letter to the Ephesians which specifically deals with husbands and wives. As we do, I would invite you to look closely at how you are fulfilling God's design for your part in marriage. Please join me now in Ephesians 5:28-33 as we enjoy together all that the Lord has for us.
